I have improved and become a proficient writer with the support of my mother, a high school English teacher. She always sat with me and helped me with my essays and brainstorming. Just like she did for me, I want to help other students with their writing and become more confident in their work. Each session will be tailored for the student and their specific learning style, and I will ensure that each person will leave my sessions with a deeper understanding of the subject and more confidence. A typical session may include reading over the essay and getting a general understanding of the topic. As I read, any grammatical errors I notice will be pointed out, especially if I see the same mistakes being made, I will let the student know and correct them. Then, I will give constructive criticism to add depth and detail to the essay in the form of questions. I will never outright tell a student what to write; rather, I would guide them to the answer. If the student needs it, I will also help them brainstorm more ideas if needed. I am looking to tutor students in high school.
