About Ömer

Hello, I’m Ömer. I am currently a junior Biology student at Ankara University, though my journey into the depths of this science truly began during my high school years.

To me, biology is far more than just a subject; it is a vital tool for understanding oneself and the environment. It acts as a navigation system that shows you where you stand in this vast world. Of course, the most important point here is that biology provides you with the map—it is up to you to name the landmarks and interpret the terrain. Historically, scientists have often struggled to find absolute unity in science, presenting their interpretations through theories and hypotheses supported by data. My goal is to teach you biology through a lens that adds excitement to your life and reveals just how truly valuable you are.

I will do this by grounding every insight in solid scientific data. Throughout this teaching and learning process, I hope to encourage you to be curious and knowledgeable in other scientific disciplines as well, as true understanding requires a holistic approach. I am thrilled to share this step-by-step journey with you. I look forward to seeing the happy smiles on your faces—not just from the success in your grades, but from the wisdom you gain for life itself. :)

About the lesson

The Heart of Biology: Beyond Memorization
"First and foremost, many people view biology as a mere act of memorization. However, I believe the most crucial point is this: a person’s true memory resides in their heart. Let me expand on that—research suggests that when we form an emotional bond with what we learn, that knowledge becomes permanent. Learning stops being a chore and starts becoming unforgettable the moment you welcome it into your heart.

For instance, when studying a plant’s characteristics, instead of just listing and memorizing facts, we should approach it like a new friend. When you meet someone new, you don’t 'memorize' their traits; you connect with them, you find things to love (or even dislike), and you attach emotions to those observations. It doesn’t even have to be love—though I certainly prefer it!—it just needs an emotional anchor. For me, I might say I love perennials or find gymnosperms particularly beautiful because of their scents and flowers. By focusing on what our senses and emotions feel, biology shifts from being a 'lesson' to a natural part of our lives. This removes the pressure on the learner and allows them to reach their goals effortlessly.

Learning with me will be an indispensable life activity rather than a standard lecture. I hope—and believe—that neither of us will ever get bored. Even when I have to repeat the same topics, I never tire of them because my love for biology is like a parent’s love for their child; it’s inexhaustible. I feel a genuine emotion for every subject I teach. Even when I joke, 'I don’t like this specific topic,' that too is part of the journey’s beauty. Just as one might not like rainy weather but accepts it as a vital part of existence, everything in biology has a purpose and meaning. Nothing is entirely ugly or useless. In fact, my favorite 'law' in this field is that nothing is ever truly redundant. There is always something to love, something to challenge you, or something to feel deeply about. While my lessons are designed to resonate with all age groups, they are especially tailored for middle and high school students. This is the most vital stage where curiosity and the spirit of inquiry are at their peak. I believe this is the exact window where a student’s natural wonder should be nurtured and encouraged.

My mission is to support this search for knowledge by transforming the 'stress of exams' into the 'joy of discovery.' By sparking their curiosity during these formative years, we aren't just teaching them biology; we are helping them build a lifelong relationship with the world around them. :)"
