About Jennifer

I am a fully qualified Maths teacher with 7 years' experience currently working as a second in department at an Ofsted rated Outstanding school. During this inspection I was also rated Outstanding. I believe that a passion for the subject, along with patience and the ability to explain topics in more than one way are vital to ensure a tutee's understanding of the subject. I firmly believe that tutoring is more than just teaching students formulae and ‘tricks’ to pass exams. I try to teach students the WHY behind the maths and encourage them to develop their problem-solving skills. I have found this greatly increases their confidence in the subject, as well as being a vital component of the new 9-1 Maths specification. Developing a good working relationship with each student is vital, quickly getting to know their strengths and weaknesses in order to tailor each tuition session to their individual needs. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student grow in confidence as they discover that actually they CAN achieve in maths.
