About Sehee
Hi! I’m an educator and writer dedicated to helping students find their voice, master academic writing, and conquer the SAT without the stress. After graduating from Brown University with highest honors in Literary Arts, I am now continuing my creative and academic path as an MFA student at the University of Washington. Having scored a 1550+ on my own SAT, I know exactly what it takes to excel on high-stakes exams, but I also know that stressful memorization is not the key to long-term success.
My tutoring style is collaborative and workshop-based. Instead of teaching rigid formulas, I work side-by-side with students to build genuine critical thinking skills, refine their unique writing voice, and demystify standardized tests. Whether we are preparing for the SAT, polishing college application essays, or analyzing literature, my goal is to make the learning process clear, manageable, and deeply rewarding.

About Me & What Sets Me Apart
With an Ivy League background in literary arts and specialized graduate-level training in writing, I don't just help students finish their homework—I help them find their voice. I treat my students as active peers in the learning process. Whether we are demystifying the SAT, breaking down a complex literary text, or drafting a college admissions essay, my goal is to build genuine academic confidence, alleviate writing anxiety, and make the process of analytical thinking feel deeply rewarding.
My Teaching Methods & Techniques
The Workshop Method: Rather than lecturing, we look at essays and writing exercises together. We read sentences aloud, identify what is working, and collaborate on how to elevate the clarity, style, and structure of the prose.
Inquiry-Based Learning: Instead of just giving students the answers, I ask targeted, open-ended questions. This guides them to make their own analytical breakthroughs, which builds long-term critical thinking skills.
Targeted SAT Strategy: For test prep, we break down the SAT reading and writing sections into manageable, repeatable logic puzzles. We focus on recognizing question patterns, mastering grammar rules, and managing time without panic.
Low-Stakes Drafting: I teach students how to separate the "generating" phase of writing from the "editing" phase. This is the single best way to cure writer's block and build a fluid, engaging writing process.
