About Sylar

Hello! I’m a qualified math teacher with an Honors degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Irvine, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Hong Kong (HKU).

About the lesson

My Teaching Methods
- Foundations first: I identify gaps in earlier topics, because weak foundations make new material hard to follow.
- Understanding over memorising: I explain the reasoning behind each method, so students can handle unfamiliar and word problems.
- Clear working habits: I train students to set out solutions step by step, reducing careless mistakes.
- Reflecting on mistakes: Mistakes alone don’t teach; reflecting on them does. I guide students to understand why they went wrong.
- Support between lessons: Students can send questions by message after class.
