About Bernice

Hi, I'm Bernii, I've worked in the music business both on and off the stage for 25 years now with 8 years of that being as vocal coach.

In my sessions I focus on helping you find your own voice as a vocalist including technique, musicality, self-expression, emotion and confidence. I am the founder of Becoming The Vocalist and Becoming The Artist, an online membership community for those who would like to become professional musicians and artists. I can also support you with nerves, confidence, and self-doubt which are so common when it comes to performing and self-expression.

I look forward to guiding you on your journey to either becoming a professional in the music industry or just having fun whilst you sing! I work with people of all ages and levels.

About the lesson

I am a former professional musical Artist (pop) and session vocalist who originally trained in musical theatre and Jazz and later pop music so my vocal lessons focus on having great technique which is essential when you will be using your voice to earn your living. If you want to have more control over your voice or even just to wow them at karaoke or a special event I can also help you with that.

In our lessons, I will look at ear training if needed, musicianship, artistry, breathing and technique. Connecting with your audience is also super important so we also look at how to sing from your heart to create those moments with your fans and also how to develop your unique sound. If you are an amateur singer this is also really rewarding. Our lessons will usually start with understanding the singers breath, followed by vocal warm ups and technique and ending with you singing a song. I can adapt these lesson flow depending on your needs including ear/pitch training, confidence and nerves.

My students have gone on to be accepted to schools such as the prestigious Brit School (the number 1 performing arts school in the U.K) and BIMM, signed to labels and perform from intimate crowds to 15,000!

Berni is a fantastic tutor. My daughter was really anxious about getting a new teacher after we moved house. Berni put her at ease, started with familiar songs led by my daughter's preference and she is going from strength to strength with her vocal development with Berni's guidance.
