About Jess

Hi! My name is Jess, a teaching professional who, in addition to encouraging academic success, also initiates self-confidence and independent thinking across the student population to prepare students for overall excellence, and foster lifelong learners. I trust that with my background, personal values, and numerous experiences, I emulate this educator. I have a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Honours Psychology as well as a Bachelor of Education degree in Primary/Junior divisions with math, English and physical/health education as my primary focuses. As an educator, my aim is to influence my students in specific ways, yet simultaneously support those students to take responsibility for their own learning. This is a balance that I strive to achieve by nurturing a sense of discovery and executive function in my students, through experiential learning. I believe in being reflective with students of their scholarship and of my own teaching journey, to improve my practice. I encourage creativity and inquiry-based learning which are both strong foundations for students to form a growth mindset. I am a fun and young teacher with 5 years of professional experience who fosters a supportive learning atmosphere which allows students to question, collaborate and explore, helping them develop into better leaders and citizens for their community along the way. My pedagogy is strongly rooted in an educational culture that emphasizes core values and promotes inclusivity with diverse demographics. It is important to me that each student feels safe and cared for, by actively listening to my students to build trusting relationships. I had the amazing opportunity of teaching in Sweden for five years, and now I am teaching at an international school in Singapore.
