About Ashar
I’m an interdisciplinary PhD researcher and experienced university instructor working across art history, visual culture, science, astronomy, ecology, and curatorial studies. I hold degrees in both the sciences and humanities, which allows me to help students connect ideas across disciplines while developing strong critical, creative, and analytical skills.
I have taught students at the university level and designed learning experiences for children, teenagers, and adult learners. My teaching is patient, encouraging, and intellectually curious. I care deeply about creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, testing ideas, and building confidence in their own voice.
Alongside teaching, I am a published scholar, curator, podcast host, and public speaker. These experiences allow me to bring research, storytelling, visual analysis, and real-world examples into every lesson.

My lessons are interdisciplinary, student-centred, and shaped around the way each person learns best. Drawing from my background in art history, visual culture, science, astronomy, curatorial practice, and academic research, I help students make meaningful connections across subjects rather than simply memorizing information.
A typical lesson begins by identifying the student’s goals, challenges, and current level of understanding. From there, we work through key concepts using images, discussion, close reading, real-world examples, and guided exercises. Lessons can focus on course content, essay planning, research methods, critical analysis, presentation skills, or strengthening academic writing.
I work with children, high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, as well as curious lifelong learners. What sets my teaching apart is my ability to make complex ideas feel approachable, engaging, and relevant while helping students develop the confidence to think independently and express their ideas clearly.
