About JAMES
Hi, I’m James! As an Integrated Studies major at the University of North Texas focusing on History and Journalism, I bring strong academic preparation, clear communication, and a patient, supportive approach to every tutoring session. Having served as a student newspaper writer and completed coursework in Media Law, Copyediting, and AP-level History, I know how to break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps tailored to each student’s unique learning style.
My goal for every session is to build a welcoming, open-minded space where students feel truly confident, excited to ask questions, and genuinely curious about what they are learning. Whether we are analyzing historical events or fine-tuning writing assignments, I make sure every student leaves feeling supported and empowered to succeed.
Communication & Schedule:
Availability: Flexible scheduling options, including Mondays (after 5 PM), Wednesdays (all day), Thursdays (after 3 PM), Fridays (all day), and open availability on weekends.
Parent & Student Check-Ins: I maintain open communication with parents via email or text updates to share progress and milestones.
Quick Response Time: I respond promptly to all messages—typically immediately or within 24 hours at maximum.

A Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-Up & Recall (5–10 mins): We start with a brief recap of prior material or a quick discussion on a real-world current event or historical hook.
Core Visual Breakdown (15–20 mins): We dive into the topic—whether analyzing historical precedents or dissecting article structures—using visual tools, outlines, and diagrams.
Guided Practice & Writing (15–20 mins): James guides students through applying the material, working side-by-side on essay structure, copyediting, or analytical questions.
Wrap-Up & Action Plan (5 mins): We summarize key takeaways and set clear, manageable goals for independent study or upcoming assignments.
