About Estelle
Hello to all that might be needing some support; I'm Estelle and I'm here to help you!
My secondary school teaching career of nearly 30 years has allowed me to create a level of very good expertise in a number of subject areas - formerly humanities (including KS3, GCSE and A-Level) and most recently KS3 and KS4 English and Maths. As a lead KS3 and 4 English teacher in a secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) provision I have developed a unique skill set dealing with a variety of often formerly disengaged learners and I have prided myself on being able to reach and connect with all of them, creating a learning environment where all have reached an exceptional level of progress in often limited time constraints.
I genuinely am thrilled to see young people find confidence, interest and a passion for a subject when otherwise they might have formerly been struggling. Having taught Functional Skills along with GCSE, I am also able to facilitate the learning of young adults looking to apply to college, along with students who might need support with their English if spoken as a second language.

All lessons will be delivered with an enthusiastic and highly motivational approach, bespoke to a learner's individual needs, and in keeping with ability/age. The first lesson of 30 minutes will be offered FREE to any student and this will aim to assess and identify any specific requirements and compatibility.
Going forward, a series of interesting and engaging 50 minute lessons will be planned to develop, challenge and reinforce prior taught concepts and recognized gaps. Repetition in learning is of paramount importance and this will be used as a key component to underpin and reassure every student at all times, so that confidence and belief can be obtained and progress built. Each student will be offered every opportunity during the lesson to ask for clarification on anything that has been taught, and the lessons will be based on this level of honesty so that a highly productive tutor/tutee relationship is established.
Please note that, I have always worked in schools so I completely understand all the demands and expectations teachers and students face and have an extremely thorough knowledge of the exam board's specifications and requirements. Lastly, my experience throughout the past 15 years has especially enabled me to understand the complex needs of students during my lessons who require additional support such as those with ASD, ADHD, ADD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and symptoms thereof and or foreign (EAL) learners.
