About Leyna

I am an Indonesian native speaker with two mother tongues: Indonesian and Javanese. I also speak Japanese (Intermediate - JLPT Certified) and English (TOEFL - intermediate level). I hold a degree in architecture and a master's in urban design, specializing in urban heritage. I am passionate about culture, tradition, and cities. I enjoy both learning and teaching, sharing knowledge through language teaching is my true love. I enjoy cooking, eating, and writing in my free time.

About the lesson

The lesson materials will be tailored to student's needs and proficiency level. The main teaching used is the most recent official Indonesian Language Book published by the Indonesia Ministry of Education and Culture. Students will receive this book (pdf) for free. In addition to the main curriculum, I include special topics such as Indonesian tradition, cultures, and practical daily conversation vocabulary. Each lesson lasts for 60 minutes. Students may also request an extended session over 60 minutes per meeting with a special rate. Custom courses are available upon request, such as conversation-focused courses, reading comprehension, writing skills, or preparation for the Indonesian Proficiency Test (UKBI). In every meeting, we do not just rely on textbooks but also actively practice speaking and listening to help students become accustomed to native-level speed and pronunciation. I also use various tools such as Google Maps to introduce local environments and explain cultural context, and pictures or videos to make explanations more engaging and easy to understand. Before I started teaching Indonesian for foreigners, I had been working as a Japanese Tutor for 6 years. I also served as a university lecturer. I have experience teaching a wide range of students, from elementary school children to adults over 55 years old, from complete beginners to fluent speakers.
