Hi, I’m Jamal. I am an incoming student at UPenn’s Wharton School, and I love breaking down complex ideas into clear, logical steps. Whether I am managing my neighborhood landscaping business, building custom PC setups, or competing in technical track events like the 110-meter hurdles and pole vault, I always approach challenges with a highly structured mindset. Through the National Honor Society, I have plenty of experience helping high school students navigate tough honors and AP English classes. About the lesson

As an English tutor, my approach is all about breaking down tough reading and writing assignments into simple, logical steps. Drawing on my experience tutoring through the National Honor Society, I focus on the structural mechanics of an essay rather than just telling students what to write. A typical 60-minute session is super organized but low-stress: we spend 10 minutes looking over past drafts to fix any confusing parts, 15 minutes breaking down a new prompt, 25 minutes actively writing or mapping out evidence together, and the final 10 minutes making sure the student can explain the main ideas back to me. What sets me apart is the structured mindset I bring to English; whether I am running a neighborhood business or competing in technical track events like the hurdles and pole vault, I always look at how pieces fit together, and I apply that same precision to help students treat mistakes as helpful data points for improvement. This style is built specifically for ambitious high school students in honors or AP English who want to stop stressing, master deep analytical writing, and build real confidence.
