About Ava
My journey as a pianist and music educator began with a profound love for music and the piano's expressive potential. From a young age, I was captivated by the ability to convey complex emotions and stories through piano music. This passion led me to pursue formal training in both classical and jazz piano, where I developed a deep understanding of music theory, performance, and composition. With over 3 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of sharing my knowledge and passion with students of all ages and skill levels.
Throughout my musical career, I have performed in a variety of settings, from intimate recitals to larger ensemble performances. These experiences have not only honed my technical skills but also enriched my understanding of different musical genres and styles. This diverse background allows me to offer a well-rounded and flexible approach to piano instruction, catering to the individual needs and interests of each student.
As a music educator, I am committed to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. I believe that every student is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and learning styles. Therefore, I tailor my lessons to meet each student's specific goals, whether they aim to master classical compositions, explore jazz improvisation, or simply enjoy playing for personal fulfillment. My goal is to help each student develop their technical skills while also fostering a deep appreciation and love for music.
The structure of my lessons balances technical proficiency with musical expression. For beginners, I focus on foundational skills such as reading music, proper hand positioning, and basic theory. Intermediate and advanced students are introduced to more complex techniques, including advanced fingerings, intricate chord progressions, and improvisation. By progressing through these stages, students build a solid foundation that supports more advanced learning.
I utilize a variety of teaching methods to keep lessons engaging and effective. This includes interactive exercises, hands-on practice, and the analysis of both classical compositions and jazz standards.
