About Carl
I am a Biomedical Engineering graduate from Imperial College London, with a strong academic background in mathematics, physics and problem solving. Through both my degree and tutoring experience, I have developed the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt explanations depending on each student’s learning style. I focus on helping students understand why a method works, not just how to apply it, so they can approach exams with confidence and independence.
I have experience supporting students across GCSE, A-Level and undergraduate level in Maths, Physics, Statistics, Biology and Engineering subjects. I have also helped students prepare for university interviews, improve academic confidence and strengthen their analytical thinking. My academic training has required a high level of discipline, organisation and attention to detail, which I bring into every lesson.
Students and parents value my calm and structured approach, as well as my ability to make difficult topics feel manageable. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence step by step.

My approach to tutoring focuses on helping students properly understand topics rather than memorising steps without context. I break complex ideas down into simple, logical parts so students can see how concepts connect and build confidence gradually. Once the foundations are clear, we work through exam-style questions together to develop strong problem-solving skills and improve exam technique.
Lessons are structured but relaxed, so students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. I adapt my teaching style depending on the student — some prefer visual explanations, others prefer working through examples step-by-step. The aim is always to make challenging topics feel manageable and build long-term confidence.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes. We usually start by reviewing any difficult topics or homework questions, then focus on understanding key concepts, followed by guided practice to reinforce learning. Longer sessions can be arranged if needed, especially before exams.
I hold an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from Imperial College London and a BEng in Biomedical Engineering from King’s College London. I have experience tutoring Maths, Physics, Statistics, Biology and Engineering subjects, as well as supporting students with university interview preparation and academic problem solving.
Lessons are suitable for all levels including KS3, GCSE, A-Level and undergraduate students, as well as anyone looking to strengthen their understanding of STEM subjects, improve grades, or build confidence in problem solving.
