I work closely with my students to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and learning preferences. This understanding allows me to create a customized teaching plan that caters specifically to their needs. Additionally, I emphasize a holistic approach; it's not just about our time together in lessons but also how the student can effectively manage their revision outside of our sessions. By coaching them on efficient study techniques, I help them achieve optimal results with minimal strain.
I typically structure my sessions to last one hour. This duration allows us to delve deep into the subject matter, address any questions, incorporate practice exercises, and carry out spaced repetition of prior material (which I have found helps student remember content for the final exam).
Over my tenure as a tutor, I have had the privilege of mentoring two students who were initially working at grades 4/5. With dedicated effort and tailored instruction, I successfully guided them to achieve grades 8/9. One of these transformations took place over a year and the other in just eight months. These experiences have not only honed my teaching skills but have also solidified my belief that with the right guidance, most academic goals are within reach.
