About Amna

I've always been a words person. Long before I stood in front of a classroom, I was entering national short story competitions and eventually leading the Writers' Club at my university — English never felt like just a subject to me, it felt like a way of thinking. Studying English Literature just made that official.

I started teaching almost by accident, with a class of 3rd and 4th graders at Lahore Grammar School, and I got hooked on a very specific moment: when a hesitant student suddenly finds the right word, and you can see their whole posture change. That's what pulled me deeper in — first into full-time classroom teaching, then into designing my own CEFR-aligned curriculum, because I wanted students to actually own the language, not just memorise it for a test.

These days I specialise in IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, and Duolingo coaching, because I like the stakes of a real deadline and a real goal. Watching someone walk in anxious about their band score and walk out speaking with confidence is still the best part of my week.

About the lesson

Hi, I'm Amna Hussain — an English language coach based in Islamabad, currently training students for IELTS, PTE, TOEFL iBT, and the Duolingo English Test at Edify Group of Companies. I work with students 1-on-1 and in small groups, running a real diagnostic first so we know exactly where you're starting from, then building a plan around your target score rather than a generic syllabus.

What makes my approach different: I don't just drill practice tests. I designed a full two-level spoken English curriculum myself (Foundation and Professional tracks), so I know how to break skills down and rebuild them in the right order — especially for Speaking and Writing, where most students lose easy marks. I also bring a background you won't find in most exam coaches: a Bachelor's in English Literature and history in creative writing, so I can actually explain why a sentence works, not just correct it.

I'm currently completing a Master's in Innovative Technologies in Learning at NUST, and I was selected for the Stanford-backed Amal Academy Fellowship for communication and leadership training. I teach online and in person across Islamabad and I keep my scheduling flexible for working professionals and students juggling other commitments.
