About Michael (Mish)
I am a facilitator, educator, developmental coach, and process consultant with a Master's degree in Human Systems Intervention from Concordia University.
Over the years, I have taught and supported university students in areas such as interpersonal communication, group dynamics, facilitation, leadership, and human relations. My professional work has also included coaching individuals, designing and facilitating workshops, and working with nonprofit and community organizations on communication, collaboration, and organizational development.
My approach is supportive, practical, and grounded in respect. I know that learning something new can sometimes feel intimidating, especially when it involves public speaking, leadership, communication, or working with groups. My role is to create a space where you can ask questions, practice, make mistakes, and build confidence without feeling judged.
I also bring a background in theater and the arts, which has strongly shaped the way I teach communication, presence, creativity, storytelling, and public speaking.
Whether you are a student, an emerging facilitator, a professional, or simply someone who wants to become more confident in how you communicate and work with others, I will meet you where you are and help you build practical skills you can actually use.

My approach to tutoring is practical, experiential, and tailored to the person in front of me. I believe people learn communication, facilitation, leadership, and organizational skills best when they can understand the theory, try it out, reflect on what happened, and apply it to situations they actually face.
A typical lesson begins by identifying what you want to work on and where you are currently getting stuck. From there, I introduce relevant concepts, frameworks, or tools and connect them to real examples. Depending on the subject, we might work through a facilitation scenario, practice a presentation, explore a difficult conversation, analyze a group dynamic, role-play a workplace situation, or design an intervention for an organization. We then debrief the experience and identify practical next steps you can use outside the session.
What sets me apart is the range of experience I bring to the work. I hold a Master's degree in Human Systems Intervention from Concordia University and have experience teaching and supporting university students in areas including interpersonal communication, group dynamics, facilitation, and human relations. I also work as a developmental coach, facilitator, and process consultant, so I bring both theory and real-world organizational experience into my teaching. My background in theater also strongly informs how I teach public speaking, presence, communication, creativity, and working with groups.
Lessons can be adapted for college and university students, emerging facilitators and coaches, nonprofit and community-sector professionals, new managers or team leaders, and anyone looking to become more confident and effective in communication, facilitation, public speaking, group dynamics, or organizational development.
Rather than giving you a single "right" way to communicate or lead, my goal is to help you understand different approaches, practice them, and develop a style that works for you.
