Individualized lesson planning to meet your student's needs. Experience working with students of all ages and learning styles.
Every child is different and requires a unique approach, but there are some universal constants:
- Spark an interest. What kid likes math? (Honestly, I did, but I digress). Learning doesn't have to be boring. Find the thing that makes their eyes go wide and tie it to the subject matter. Sports: statistics & game theory. Music: pattern recognition and trigonometric wave functions. Cars: calculus, derivatives, and optimization.
- Build their confidence. Math can be hard, and it's scary to fail.
Create a supportive environment where it's ok to try, and more importantly, to get things wrong. The only way to learn is to try and learn from our mistakes.
- Consistent success. How do you get better at any skill? Whether it's throwing a ball, playing an instrument, or learning math. Bring the complexity to a level you can manage, and achieve consistent successful attempts. Repeat to reinforce recollection and application.
