About Matt

I'm a Philosophy graduate with a passion for connecting with people and sharing knowledge. Having studied at the University of Edinburgh, I developed strong analytical and communication skills that I now bring to teaching. Through my university years, I was active in several societies including Investment Trading and AI Ethics, which gives me unique insights to share with students interested in business or technology. I'm particularly skilled at breaking down complex ideas into digestible parts - something I honed through both my academic studies and my experience in customer-facing roles. Being a squash player and cricket coach has taught me the value of patience, structured learning, and celebrating small victories along the way. When I'm not teaching, you might find me analysing market trends, discussing AI ethics, or coaching junior cricket players. My diverse interests - from philosophy to finance, sports to technology - help me connect with students from various backgrounds and make lessons more engaging by relating to their personal interests. I believe effective teaching is about building confidence through a supportive learning environment. About the lesson

Lesson Structure (60 minutes typical): 5-10 minutes: Warm-up conversation and review of previous material 30-35 minutes: Main lesson focus (could be business English, conversation practice, grammar exercises, etc.) 10-15 minutes: Practice activities and real-world application 5 minutes: Recap and assignment of any practice work Qualifications & Experience: Philosophy graduate from University of Edinburgh (strong communication and analytical skills) Experience working with diverse groups through customer service roles Native English speaker with clear pronunciation and extensive vocabulary Comfortable with online teaching platforms and technology Target Students: I'm particularly interested in teaching: Adult learners looking to improve their business English University students needing academic English support Intermediate to advanced learners wanting to improve their fluency Beginners who need a patient, structured approach to building confidence My focus is on creating a supportive learning environment where students can progress at their own pace while being gently challenged to improve.
