About Kewanna
Hello, my name is Kewanna! I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Biology in 2023 and have a passion for making biology simple!
I've taught Biology to students of all ages, ranging from 7 to 18 years old and honestly, I never get tired of witnessing the moment that everything clicks. Between me and you, that's what keeps me coming back to teach!
When in my hands, I always make it a point to ensure that my students understand any given topic before I move on to the next. I do this because new ideas often build on old ideas and without a good foundation, even the brightest will struggle! I set my students up for success by ensuring mastery of every subject through active learning!

Hi there! When I tutor, I primarily take an active learning approach. Active learning involves students participating in the learning process rather than passively absorbing the information. I see that this helps my students strengthen their critical thinking and application skills. I love to see students thinking, discussing and investigating new ideas in addition to them practicing their skills, solving problems, and learning how to approach complex concepts from the ground up. I find that this helps my students strengthen their current understanding, correct misconceptions and make connections to the outside word.
I like to start my lessons by getting an idea of what my students already know about the subject so that I can prioritize filling in the gaps. I aim to get my students to a point where they can eventually teach me the subject. I feel that this sets me apart because being able to teach a subject to another person demonstrates mastery which is the ultimate goal! As I am very knowledgeable about biology, my classes are for students taking general biology in elementary school, middle school, and high school!
