About Sheila
I am a English-Spanish translator and have been giving Spanish lessons since 2011 to more than 50 students. The results have been exceptional, with students being able to have much fluent conversations in just 2 months. My approach was a topic-based method where my students learnt grammar and vocabulary through realistic-like oral communications and improved their written communications with specific realistic-like tasks.

My method is task-based approach instead of repetitive grammar-translations methods using oral conversations and written tasks. Task-based learning typically involves an information gap: students may have to share knowledge to communicate effectively, or look for language rules themselves before re-applying them. It's an approach favoured by Huw Jarvis, a senior lecturer in the School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science at the University of Salford.
I believe a task-based approach will prepare my students in realistic situations.
