About Cerise
Having spent 13 years playing festivals after being self-taught in the Ozarks, I possess a deep understanding of music learned by ear. I recall the smell of pine resin on a fiddler's bow at a late-night pickin' party.
My foundation is built on 12 years of experience teaching others to find their own way through the tunes. I have coached 443 students who seek to connect with the heritage of old-time music. My approach avoids reliance on photocopied pages in favor of the way I learned as a child.
I focus on tone production and posture while integrating shifting and vibrato. Scales and arpeggios serve as the backbone for intonation, alongside careful ear training. I believe in helping you develop a voice that feels authentic to your personal history. You will find that our time together centers on the music itself rather than rigid dogma.

Ear-led learning creates a more intimate connection to the melody. You might hear the crisp snap of a string hitting the fingerboard during our first meeting. I integrate my 12 years of experience to ensure your spiccato and staccato bowing develop with natural grace. My degree in traditional music informs every correction I provide.
I offer recorded playback of tricky passages so you can listen at home. Playing the fiddle should always remain a joyful act.
