About Pip

I am an undergraduate student studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Tasmania (in my final semester). I have been offering formal and informal tutoring services for several years. I have mentored a Grade 7 student as part of a program to increase student literacy. I have completed 6+ years of Creative Writing courses and attended workshops with several prominent Australian writers such as James Moloney and Cameron Hindrum. I am skilled at assignment planning, paraphrasing, summarising and referencing as well as proof-reading and providing guidance for students. I achieved an ATAR of 93.9 and received subject awards in Creative Writing and English Studies, amongst others. In 2019, I won the Helen Hodgman Prize for Creative Writing.

About the lesson

My teaching method is based on positive reinforcement and encouragement paired with practical assistance and proven study strategies. My aim is to provide guidance, increase students' sense of accomplishment and overall capability, provide structure to study activities and keep learning tasks engaging in order to unlock potential.
I believe in tailoring lessons to fit the student's learning style, because there's no such thing as one size fits all. ADHD and autism friendly.
