About Shalini
I am a History student in London who has completed A levels in English Literature (Cambridge Pre U), History and Economics. Having been a classroom assistant for younger students of primary age in my own school I gained experience in teaching English, Maths and Humanities alongside tutoring GCSE students in History. My primary ages students have grown much more confident in their writing abilities, concentration and confidence while my GCSE students have successfully completed their exams, greatly improving upon mock results.

My teaching methodology is based on helping students achieve aims set out by them and maximising student engagement with content. I give lessons to all students up to A level and for exam students will focus on ingraining exam technique and application of knowledge, not simply recall. For primary pupils looking to sit 7/11/13+ exams in Maths and English I will take students through exam inspired short exercises to build their academic confidence before working with them on past papers and setting independent tasks to help them improve. For secondary pupils seeking tutoring in English/History/Economics to GCSE and A Level, I will use both discussion tasks and short exercises such as quizzes and essay planning to ensure they fully understand the material before working with them on exam technique. We would work with specifications and objectives close to mind to simplify the idea of the exam while using discussions to allow students to explore their perspective on the subject particularly in English to aid analysis.
