Some ways I like to teach kids is by creating custom worksheets, and slideshows to introduce new concepts and I believe that the best way to do math is with a lot of practice problems. A typical lesson would consist of 3 things. First would be going over the topic: vocabulary and reviewing older concepts that apply. Next, I would do a few example problems. After I have assured that they have a strong base on the topic, I would assign practice worksheets, and go over the steps and answers in the next class. I believe that the answer is not the most important part, what is more, important is that they understand how to apply the concept to complex problems. I would feel comfortable teaching ages from 3rd through 6th grade.
