About Susan

I have over 15 years' experience teaching in a secondary school where I have taught pupils in the age range 11-19. I have worked with mixed ability classes, highly able pupils and SEN students. I have been a private tutor for 9 years and I have an excellent understanding of the changes that have occurred in the curriculum since 2015 and have numerous resources to support my students. I also work part-time as an associate lecturer at the university. I have spent 20 years in academia, publishing my work (two papers published in 2017 and another in 2018). I have ongoing links with local universities and can offer advice and support to prepare students for university life. I can provide guidance with my students' UCAS applications, covering letters, interview skills and CV writing. I am an expert exam marker for a number of exam boards and have knowledge and experience regarding what these exam boards are looking for in the students' answers. Exam skills is an area that I focus on once subject knowledge has been consolidated and has been proven to be extremely successful in improving students' grades. I also have an extensive understanding of the required practicals that are covered in the exams. My ongoing research work stands me and my students in an excellent position to excel in this area.
