About James
Hi there, my name's James and I am an ESL teacher from the UK, now living in Sydney, Australia.
I have years of experience in London, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Sydney, and love interacting and sharing experiences with people from all over the world.
I have lots of interests, from playing guitar, photography, language (I used to be able to speak Japanese!), English literature, philosophy, meditation, writing and performing.
Aside from teaching, I have also written for newspapers (The Guardian) and worked on comedy TV shows and podcasts. I have also worked in advertising, political campaigning, and charity work.
I also love people and trying to make them happy and healthy, and so I am also currently studying a degree in Psychology.

CELTA-trained, and with years of experience in London, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Sydney I can tailor lessons to your goals.
I use a learner-centred approach, so lessons are designed around student needs and focus on effective, fluent communication in real-life situations.
We can focus on tasks such as exam preparation, General, or Business English and shift focus from fluency to accuracy, written to spoeken English, as needed.
We will also use authentic materials and situations so that you can apply your skills in real-life situations. We can look at newspapers, podcasts (for listening skills), videos, social media, and more.
For more effective lessons, we should aim to study for 40 minutes minimum, but an hour is best.
