About David
A former secondary school teacher and senior leader, I decided to explore other avenues in education. I have been working with charities, health organisations and community start-ups to develop their educational output and am also part of a team reviewing the National Curriculum of a country in Oceania. I am a keen sports enthusiast - mainly involving rugby and golf; avid follower of politics and current affairs; and try to get some quiet time with my wife when our two boys aren't running us all over the place!

Whilst my advert states English, I am happy to provide tutoring in the Humanities, Social Sciences and also generalised learning support and mentoring.
The student is the starting point for any lesson. Whilst I will always have learning outcomes designed for a session, developing depth and security of understanding is more important than 'getting through the material'. Lessons will be conversational, with time and space for questioning and clarification. However, I expect the student's full commitment to learning and my expectation is that a learner aims to achieve the highest possible standards. No student completes a lesson of mine without smiling and laughing at some point, and always leave feeling that they have made progress.
