About Ben

I am a 24-year-old recent graduate who has been tutoring English and History to support my studies since I was 18. I spent four years studying for an MA in History & Politics at the University of Edinburgh before travelling to London to complete a second MA in Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. I received top grades at GCSE and A-level in all my subjects, and I am passionate about helping others to do the same.

I have lots of experience in theatre, having worked on several professional productions in London and Edinburgh as a Director, Assistant Director and Actor. Whilst at Mountview, I had the privilege of working with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company, deepening my understanding of the Bard's work.

I also love the outdoors - camping, hiking, road-tripping and wild-swimming are my favourite things to do.

About the lesson

My lessons are specifically tailored to each student's personality, strengths and areas for development. After an initial consultation, we will work together to produce a learning plan that is unique to what you / your child wants to get out of our tutorials. Lessons typically last 1 hour.

From over 5 years experience in private tutoring, I have developed classes which fall into three broad categories:

1) Exploring - guiding you through a new topic area.
2) Consolidating - practical exercises that deepen your knowledge and skills.
3) Demonstrating - prove your knowledge and understanding in a test environment.

I am a highly adaptable tutor, working across GCSE/IGCSE, AS and A-level, Cambridge Pre-U, UCAS applications, and University support. I have two Master's Degrees, one in Modern History and one in Theatre, putting me among the most highly qualified English and History tutors in the world.

I also offer one-off specialist classes in the following topics:

- Shakespeare analysis (alongside my academic experience, I have worked with professional Shakespeare companies and trained with members of the RSC).
- Essay writing technique (all-levels)
- UCAS Personal Statement support
- Revision skills workshop
