About Ava
I am a current high school student with a strong background in mathematics and science. I took physics during my freshman year and completed the course with a 98 average. Math is also one of my strongest subjects; I completed geometry with a 100 average and am currently entering my junior year, where I will be taking AP Calculus AB.
I enjoy subjects that involve logical thinking, problem-solving, and understanding how different concepts connect. Physics especially interests me because it combines math with real-world applications and requires you to understand not just which formula to use, but why it works.
Because I have recently taken high school physics myself, I understand the types of concepts, equations, graphs, and multi-step problems students are likely to encounter in class. I also understand where students commonly get stuck and how overwhelming physics can feel when several concepts are combined in one problem.
I am patient, organized, and comfortable breaking difficult problems into smaller, more manageable steps. I like to explain concepts in different ways until the student finds an approach that makes sense to them.
My goal as a tutor is to help students become more confident in physics, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and understand the reasoning behind the equations they are using rather than simply memorizing formulas.

My physics lessons focus on helping students understand both the concepts behind physics and the steps needed to solve problems successfully. I break complicated questions into smaller, more manageable parts and make sure students understand why they are using a particular formula rather than simply memorizing equations.
A typical lesson begins by reviewing the topic the student is currently learning in class and identifying any areas of confusion. We then work through example problems together before moving on to problems the student can solve more independently. I can also help with homework, test and quiz preparation, reviewing class notes, and practicing problems before an exam.
I can help students with topics such as motion, velocity and acceleration, forces, Newton’s Laws, energy, momentum, work, graphs, and other introductory physics concepts.
I am patient and encouraging, and I want students to feel comfortable asking questions when something does not make sense. My goal is to make physics feel less intimidating while helping students become more confident in both the concepts and the math involved in solving problems.
