About Kate
As a high school senior, I am currently enrolled in Calculus. Over the past few years, I have consistently helped my peers through challenging course work. I also help younger students reach academic success by applying my experience in their classes and helping them work through difficult concepts. I currently have a niece who will be going into kindergarten, and I have been working with her on basic concepts that she will need to utilize when she goes to school such as addition, subtraction, and spelling.

My tutoring methodology relies on discussion and communication between the student and the teacher. The introduction of the material comes first, allowing the student time to process the information. When solving practice problems, we work through the student's thought process and allow them to discover the answer themselves through careful questioning and guided problem-solving techniques. I believe that if a student has an equal part in discovering the answer to a problem, they will retain the information more readily. I understand what it is like to struggle mathematically, I used to not enjoy math at all and not understand the concepts put before me. Through hard work and perseverance, I now enjoy math and find it interesting and comprehensible. I have a gentle and kind approach to tutoring and genuinely want students to succeed and feel confident in their academic abilities.
