About Afra

I’m passionate about learning and hope to become a doctor one day, which has taught me the value of patience, dedication, and helping others. I enjoy working with younger students in science, math, and reading, and I focus on making learning clear, encouraging, and confidence-building. I’ve gained meaningful experience volunteering at Northwestern Medicine and Advocate Aurora, where I assist in triage by conducting research for health communities and attending conferences and events. These experiences have strengthened my communication skills, empathy, and ability to guide and support others—qualities I bring to tutoring. For me, tutoring is more than just schoolwork; it’s a way to share my love for learning and inspire students to believe in themselves.

About the lesson

Hi, my name is Afra and I’m a high school senior who is passionate about helping younger students succeed. I know how overwhelming schoolwork can feel sometimes, which is why I want to make learning easier, clearer, and even enjoyable. I myself took seven AP (Advanced Level) classes so I’m very capable with elementary and middle school level science, math, and reading, and I take the time to explain concepts step by step until they make sense. Since I’ve been through these same subjects not too long ago, I understand how students think and where they usually get stuck. I’m patient, dependable, and committed to creating a supportive environment where your child can build confidence and feel proud of their progress. My goal is not just to help with homework, but to give my students the tools and motivation to keep growing on their own.

I enjoy tutoring younger students in science, math, and reading, focusing on clear explanations and building confidence.
