About Shreyas

I'm a high school senior passionate about making math enjoyable! Having excelled in algebra, geometry, and physics through AP Calculus BC, I use my recent experiences to help students understand concepts clearly while keeping learning fun and engaging. I used to hate attending tutoring classes as a child, so I want to ensure that students actually enjoy the process of learning.

About the lesson

I'm currently a high school senior with a genuine passion for making learning accessible and enjoyable. I've completed a rigorous mathematics curriculum culminating in AP Calculus BC, along with all prerequisite courses including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and precalculus. Having recently navigated these subjects myself, I understand firsthand the challenges students face and the strategies that actually work. My tutoring philosophy is simple: I put myself in my students' shoes, drawing on my own recent experiences to create a learning journey that's both efficient and engaging. I never want my students to feel like robots going through the motions—I remember dreading tutoring sessions as a child, so I'm committed to making sure every student I work with has a genuinely positive experience.
Over the past two years, I've accumulated substantial teaching experience across diverse settings and age groups. I've tutored elementary, middle, and high school students through my school's tutoring program, typically in one-on-one sessions averaging six hours weekly. Beyond academics, I've also coached young tennis players in developing their technical skills, which taught me how to break down complex movements into manageable steps—a skill that translates directly to explaining mathematical concepts. Additionally, I worked with fellow interns at Visys Cloud as a full-stack developer, where I helped coordinate different coding skill sets and taught programming techniques for website development. This experience strengthened my ability to explain technical concepts clearly and collaborate with learners at various skill levels.
My teaching approach centers on building genuine connections with students while fostering independence. I maintain a friendly, approachable relationship with everyone I teach and actively encourage questions—I'm never hesitant to re-explain concepts from different angles until they click. Beyond subject-specific content, I incorporate effective study methods into my sessions so students develop skills they can apply across all their classes. I believe that when students feel comfortable, supported, and engaged, they naturally become more confident and successful learners.
