About Maddison

Hi there! I'm an experienced tutor who is passionate about helping students find their skills and develop a love for learning.

I hope to help my students improve their grades, confidence, and study techniques to set them up for success for the rest of High School and beyond. To achieve this, I adopt an individualised approach for each student as I believe that the appreciation of different learning styles is the key to success in the field.

I offer specific instruction by subject, integrated / comprehensive support (especially useful for younger students), as well as guidance and editing for assignments (including EE and TOK for IB).

About the lesson

I'm an 18-year-old graduate of Canberra Grammar school, and completed the IB Diploma Programme in 2021. I graduated as dux of the cohort with an IB score was 45 (equating to an ATAR of 99.95). I offer tutoring in Maths, English, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography.

I also offer comprehensive tutoring which involves time management improvement and study skill development - an approach that I have found is especially helpful for younger High School students. I am also able to assist in IB core components (EE, TOK, and CAS) for senior IBDP students.

I know that different students have very different learning styles and requirements, and I ensure that my lessons are flexible to accomodate this. Some examples of what a lesson might look light include:
- Interactive delivery of content to improve engagement and retention
- Guided question practice to target weak areas
- Cooperative development of assignments and assessment pieces

In my experience, lessons longer than 2 hours tend to become unproductive - the 'sweet spot' tends to be between 1 and 2 hours. However, for some students concentrating for an hour can still prove challenging - so I offer lessons between 30 minutes and 2 hours in length, depending on the ability, attention span, and goals of my students.
