About Karina

I have a bachelor's of science in mathematics, a full single subject credential in mathematics, and a master's of arts in mathematics education.

I have taught Algebra I for seven years, Algebra II for three years, and Trigonometry for one year. I have also tutored for seven years - three years were in-person tutoring k - 8 in all subjects, 10th - 12th in SAT/ACT prep and a combined 6th - 8th homeschool class. 4 years for a charter school as an online tutor for a wide range of math courses, including middle school math, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Advanced Math, and Integrated Math I–III.

I am dedicated to helping students feel confident, supported, and capable, and I pride myself on creating a positive, respectful space where learning can thrive.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, writing, drawing, and watching movies and TV shows—especially anything Marvel or DC—and I’m a proud pet parent to two dogs and a cat. These interests help me connect with students while maintaining high expectations and a commitment to their success.

About the lesson

I bring strong content knowledge and extensive teaching experience to every session.

I can tutor students at the middle school, high school, and college levels, and I tailor my instruction through differentiated strategies to meet each student’s individual needs.

Additionally, I am experienced in implementing IEPs and 504 plans, ensuring students receive appropriate accommodations while building confidence and long-term success in math.

Karina is an amazing tutor. I have had the pleasure of working with her for the last 5 years in an intensive online summer school program. Not only is she insanely adept at math, she has a huge heart and is diligent in making sure each student she works with leaves their tutoring session feeling confident and ready to tackle math. If she ever feels that a student is not feeling confident, she works patiently with him/her/them until they are. She always speaks of her students with positivity and grace. She is admirable, and, in my opinion, a huge asset to anyone who may need help, and to any team.

I can also provide materials as needed, such as extra notes or practice problems, review games, study guides, etc. Pricing for this can be worked out, as needed (range $1 - $5 an item).

Within 4 - 8 miles - $5 charge extra each session
Within 9 - 13 miles - $10 charge extra each session
Within 15 - 18 miles - $15 charge extra each session
Within 19 - 23 miles - $20 charge extra each session
Within 24 - 30 miles - $30 charge extra each session
(If further distance is needed we can discuss a rate)

For package tutoring, there will be a package travel rate.
