About Mary
Having completed several years of post-secondary education as well as multiple student exchanges, I know that learning from textbooks alone is often frustrating and ineffective. This is true especially when it comes to learning and working with a language. In my teaching and tutoring, I apply research-backed pedagogical tools like Universal Design for Learning and explicit teaching. In my sessions, these tools look like tailoring lessons to each student's needs and using interactive activities with clear goals.

As an experienced teacher and tutor, I understand the difficulties students face when it comes to English reading and writing. For many, these difficulties are made worse by lack of interest in the subject. In my sessions, I make personalisation a priority - this means that I take time to learn about the personal interests and academic needs of each of my students. While most of my work is with high school students, I do have experience working with elementary and even adult learners. Whether you're looking to improve your grades or your overall English ability, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
