About Tanish
I am an advanced high school STEM student with a strong record of achievement in mathematics, leadership, and mentorship. I am a three-time Math Olympiad champion, and my students have gone on to win Math Olympiads and other competitive mathematics events under my guidance. These accomplishments reflect not only subject mastery, but also my ability to train students strategically and effectively.
I am also one of ten national MathCounts Community Coaches selected across the country, and I was awarded the MathCounts scholarship in recognition of my leadership and impact in mathematics education. Through this role, I have helped expand access to competition-level training and mentored students aiming for high academic distinction.
Beyond academics, I serve as an Executive Assistant in Finance for Youth Ambassadors of Service, where I help manage fundraising strategy, budgeting, and financial operations for large-scale initiatives. This experience has strengthened my professionalism, organization, and accountability, qualities I bring into every tutoring session.

As a tutor, I focus on building deep understanding rather than memorization. With advanced proficiency in math and science, I break down complex concepts into clear, logical steps so students truly understand the “why” behind every solution. I have been trained by multiple top-class mentors, including programs such as Art of Problem Solving, which has shaped my analytical and competition-level problem-solving approach.
I have been tutoring math and chess for the past seven years, working with over 100 students in person, and I am now transitioning to a virtual format to reach and support more students. This experience has allowed me to refine methods that truly work across different learning styles and ability levels.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review to reinforce prior material, followed by introducing new concepts through structured examples and guided practice. I teach using flashcards, structured textbooks, interactive problem sets, or even discussion-based conversations. Sessions can be as formal or as relaxed as you prefer. I keep classes engaging and enjoyable, while adapting to your specific way of understanding so the class works for you, not the other way around.
What sets me apart is not just subject mastery, but experience. Having taught over 100 students, I know how to identify learning gaps quickly, build confidence, and push students toward higher-level thinking. I also incorporate strategic problem-solving techniques, efficiency methods, and mindset training that extend beyond the classroom.
