About Hazel

I am a high school senior in the state of Georgia. After completing all my graduation requirements at the end of my junior year, I am currently living at home and working through the general education requirements of my major in college--all while still enjoying the quintessential high school experience. My future career lies somewhere within the realm of medicine, most likely as a neurocritical anesthesiologist.

I am passionate about seeing students succeed and equipping them with the tools to do so. I enjoy all subjects, but math (especially Algebra and Precalculus) has proven to be my forte. As I take time off from the traditional work setting to focus on beefing up my college applications, I am looking to increase my skillsets and experience in the tutoring industry. It is my secret desire to one day open a tutoring and test prep center of my own, as a tribute to the many years I spent benefiting from the same dedication to learning.

I have 4+ years of experience in the tutoring industry. As a high school freshman, I began my own virtual tutoring business to come alongside struggling parents during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. After this proved to be a lucrative and exciting experience, I branched out to include higher-level math in my repertoire. Now, I enjoy tackling all kinds of challenges, and serve a wide range of clients from elementary schoolers to high school juniors.

About the lesson

My teaching philosophy is student-led. I put my students and families first, maintaining a good, healthy relationship that promotes holistic learning and well-roundedness.

Spot the Difference:
• My lessons always align with the state standards for the subject and age group I am teaching.
• I allow students a break period during sessions.
• I provide parents with an optional homework assignment to help drive concepts home.
• I strongly encourage my students to send homework ahead of time so that I am ALWAYS prepared.
• I am above all things compassionate and kind toward my students. I consider myself approachable and down to earth.
• As a peer who is close to them in age, I remain relaxed and upbeat and try to make students feel like they are working with a friend rather than a teacher. I do not feign expertise and work together with my students to solve problems, equipping them to translate the methods taught to their own homework time.
• In addition to all of these qualities, I am flexible. Within a few hour's notice, I can change scheduling for a client and work with them to meet their needs.
