About Brian
Hello! My name is Brian Cox, and I’m a dedicated Education Resource Specialist with over 15 years of experience helping students succeed in math. I hold a Master’s degree in Education and have worked extensively with learners from primary grades through college prep, including students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism. My teaching approach is supportive, personalized, and results-driven. I break down complex math concepts into manageable steps, using real-life examples and hands-on strategies that make learning engaging and meaningful. I specialize in helping students who may have struggled in traditional classrooms regain confidence and develop a clear understanding of math. Every session is tailored to meet the student’s individual needs, whether we're working on foundational skills, catching up, or pushing toward college-level goals. I use data and feedback to guide each lesson, and I make it a priority to create a learning environment that is positive, patient, and progress-focused. Whether you're a student aiming to pass a class, prepare for exams, or build long-term skills, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Let’s work together to turn challenges into confidence and growth.

As an Education Resource Specialist with 15 years of experience and a Master’s degree in Education, my tutoring approach is built on meeting students where they are and helping them grow with confidence. I specialize in math instruction from primary grades through college prep, including support for students with learning disabilities, autism, and other individualized education needs. Teaching Methods & Techniques: I use a mix of explicit instruction, visual models, real-life applications, and guided practice to make math meaningful and approachable. I often incorporate TAPPLE strategies (Teach, Ask, Pair, Pick, Listen, and Evaluate) to ensure engagement and real-time understanding. My sessions are interactive, adaptive, and designed to build both skills and confidence. Typical Lesson Plan Includes: A quick check-in or warm-up activity to activate prior knowledge A mini-lesson focused on a specific skill or concept Guided practice using real-world examples or problems Time for independent work with support as needed A closing reflection or mini-assessment to reinforce learning and set goals for next time What Sets Me Apart: I bring 15 years of classroom and co-teaching experience. I am trained to support diverse learners, including those with IEPs and 504 plans. I build strong rapport with students, offer flexible pacing, and use data-driven techniques to track and adapt instruction. I can provide support in both English and Spanish when needed. I blend structure with empathy, making students feel supported, not overwhelmed. Who My Lessons Are For: Students in grades 1–12 needing math support, catch-up, or enrichment Students preparing for college entrance exams or college-level math readiness Students with IEPs, 504s, ADHD, autism, or other learning challenges Parents looking for a tutor who understands both academic standards and the emotional side of learning
