Hello everyone, my name is Mr. Greg. I have been teaching for almost 10 years. Every previous student of mine will tell you I’m the best teacher they’ve ever had. Today we are going to start reading my favorite book, “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee. This book was published over 60 years ago. It was released in 1960. This is a renowned novel, and it even won the Pulitzer Prize.
One of the most interesting parts of this novel is its author. Harper Lee was an incredible woman, and we will learn about her throughout our reading. One fact I have always found amazing, “To Kill A Mockingbird” is the only novel Harper Lee wrote during her lifetime. After she died, a sequel to this book was published based off of an incomplete draft she decided not to publish in the early 60s. Harper Lee didn’t publish any additional novel because she felt taken advantage of during the publishing process. So she walked away from an extremely lucrative future. She was the definition of an independent thinker.
