About Willa

Hi! My name is Willa Lim, and I’m a dedicated and passionate student going into Year 12 (NCEA Level 2). I’ve always enjoyed helping others learn and grow, which inspired me to start tutoring younger students. I believe learning should feel encouraging, supportive, and enjoyable — not stressful. Originally from Singapore, I have experience volunteering to teach young children, and I successfully completed the PSLE national exam, placing among the top students out of 1,000 candidates. Now based in Auckland, I want to use what I’ve learned from both my education and experiences to help other students gain confidence and do well in school. I’m fluent in English, Chinese, and Burmese, and I’m comfortable teaching a range of subjects including English, History, Philosophy, Math, Science, and beginner-level Chinese and Burmese. I’m patient, understanding, and always adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s needs. Whether it’s improving writing skills, building study habits, or understanding difficult topics, I aim to make every lesson a space where students feel supported and inspired to learn.

About the lesson

I offer Zoom classes every week for one to two hours, depending on what works best for each student. For those living around Central Auckland, I’m also happy to provide in-person lessons at their home. Although I’m a beginner tutor, I’m very patient and dedicated to creating a positive, encouraging learning environment where my students feel comfortable and supported. I have previous experience volunteering to teach young children in Singapore, and I’ve successfully completed the PSLE national exam, placing among the top students out of 1,000 candidates. My lessons are designed for students aged 5 to 14, as well as high school students doing NCEA Level 1 (Year 11). I specialize in advanced English, History, and Philosophy, especially in academic and creative writing. I can also teach Math, Science, and beginner-level Chinese and Burmese.
