About Punav

Hi! I'm Punav Khetarpal, a passionate and dedicated senior at TJHSST. I have a strong work ethic and am always eager to put in the effort to achieve my goals. My academic journey is diverse, including challenging subjects like Linear Algebra, AP Statistics, and my Neuroscience research lab. Aside from academics I play varsity football, as a MLB and QB.

One-Hour Tutoring Lesson Plan: Mathematics
Student's Level: High School

1. Introduction (5 minutes)
Greet the student warmly.
Set the tone by briefly discussing the student's recent experiences with math, any challenges faced since the last session.
Outline today's focus area in mathematics, ensuring it aligns with the student's current curriculum or specific areas of difficulty.

2. Review and Connect (10 minutes)
Recap the previous session's key concepts, asking the student to explain these in their own words.
Connect these concepts to today's topic, highlighting how they build upon or relate to each other.

3. New Concept Introduction (15 minutes)
Introduce the new mathematical concept, using simple, relatable examples.
Demonstrate a few basic problems, breaking down the steps clearly.
Engage the student by asking questions that lead them to understand the concept rather than telling them the answers.

4. Guided Problem Solving (25 minutes)
Present a series of problems that gradually increase in difficulty.
Guide the student through solving these problems, encouraging them to think aloud and work through challenges independently. Offer hints and ask leading questions to nudge them towards the solution.
Correct misconceptions and provide targeted feedback, ensuring the student understands why an answer is correct or incorrect.

5. Wrap-up and Look Ahead (5 minutes)
Review what was covered in the session, asking the student to summarize the key points learned.
Assign a few practice problems for them to tackle before the next session, if applicable.
Discuss the focus for the next tutoring session and any specific areas the student wants or needs to concentrate on.
