About the lesson

Although I’m at the early stage of my formal teaching career, I have gained valuable experience supporting learning and student engagement through my university and volunteer work. I’m currently pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at the University of Bradford, which has given me a strong understanding of child development, learning processes, and behavioural management — all of which directly support my role as a Teaching Assistant.

As a Student Ambassador at the University of Bradford, I’ve led campus tours, supported open days, and guided prospective students — helping them feel comfortable, informed, and motivated. These experiences have strengthened my communication, presentation, and mentoring skills, which I apply when supporting students in academic settings.

My time as a carer also deepened my empathy and ability to adapt my communication to different individual needs — skills essential for working with children, especially those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

In terms of methodology, I believe in creating inclusive and supportive environments where every student feels valued and capable. I focus on positive reinforcement, active listening, and differentiated support to meet each learner’s unique needs. I enjoy helping students build confidence by breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps and celebrating their progress.

While I don’t yet hold a formal TA qualification, I am eager to complete a **Teaching Assistant Level 2 or Level 3 certificate** to strengthen my classroom practice. My academic background in psychology, combined with my interpersonal experience, equips me with both the theoretical and practical skills needed to support students effectively across subjects — particularly in literacy, emotional well-being, and social development.
