I balance my easy-going personality with productive and focused actions. I firmly believe that understanding the student can pave the way for understanding their most effective learning style, and have experience to prove that. As with any challenge, it can often come down to setting realistic goals, giving grace, and addressing root issues from various perspectives. My lessons are usually structured around assessing initial confusion from previous lessons, approaching new concepts with student-focused strategies, and leaving students with reasonable future steps for class, practice, or tests. I have a targeted and sustainable approach using consistent memorization strategies, inter-lesson connections, step-by-step understanding, and visuals or analogies for complex concepts. I also have a vast number of study, scheduling, and test-taking strategies, with a science to getting rid of exam-day anxieties. Ultimately, I aim to connect with students and understand their academic strengths and motivators to support them in a low-stakes, friendly environment.
