About Ethan

I hail from Northern Ireland, where I achieved the high grades in my GCSEs and A-levels from Banbridge Academy, receiving awards for my grades in maths, chemistry and physics. With this skillset, I enrolled at the University of Edinburgh to study a Master's in Chemical Engineering.

Throughout my studies, I have always had a passion for tutoring and helping other students achieve their target grades. This began with tutoring friends and cousins from home for their GCSEs and A-levels, and has progressed to professional roles. This has included working with students at Explore Learning, where I helped students prepare for their 11+ tests as well as helping students adapt to their new high school curriculum.

After taking a break from professional tuition for a placement in the energy industry, I have returned to professional tutoring by working for Atom Tuiton. Here I have learnt many new skills to expand my abilities, and has encouraged me to find more students to help achieve their grades.

About the lesson

As an experience tutor, I am focused on ensuring that each lesson equips my students with new understanding and tools to succeed in their studies.

My engineering background has grounded my lessons to ensure that each topic I teach can be applied to real life application. This method helps ensure that students can apply their knowledge, which leads to a more memorable and greater long-term understanding.

My lessons typically last 1 hour, although I am often flexible to ensure the greatest outcome for the student. These lessons typically entail covering the aspects of a topic as I write on a virtual whiteboard, where I guide the student through each aspect to test for their knowledge. This technique draws from my 2 years of professional tutoring experience, where I have received training and advice for professional tuition from professional companies including Explore Learning and Atom Tuition.

My experience in tuition covers a wide range of ages, from ages 11-12 to help students with their 11+ tests, to ages 14-18 to help students with their GCSEs and A-levels. With 9 A*s in my GCSEs, and 2A*s and an A in my A-levels, I believe I have a great academic record that I strive to help replicate for my students.
