About AJ
Hi, you can call me AJ! Im 19 years old and a freelance cartoonist!
Although I am here to teach art, I do a lot of other things too! For instance, even though I've been to art school for 4 years, I am currently in college for Psychology, Media Studies, and possibly Neuroscience!
I dream of being an art therapist, so I strongly believe that art is a way of understanding yourself and healing. I am more than willing to listen, I absolutely do not believe in treating the people I teach as a number. My lessons are open, honest, no-judgement spaces, so feel free to talk about anything and everything you want (as long as it doesn't interfere with your lesson time). I am both a teacher, and a shoulder to lean on. Let's grow together!

About the lesson

During my lessons, I provide fun, open ended prompts. During our first meeting, we will discuss your skill level, goals, tools needed, and a short demonstration. Alongside, I teach you any necessary skills like color theory, shading, tone, lighting, digital art, and so much more! During lessons, it's all personal to you, the student. Art doesn't have to be a drag! Lets talk life and learn something new. I love sharing my skill, more people should draw.
A typical lesson will include:
- Discuss your life! Quick check in on emotions, feelings about the lesson, what you want to learn, what you struggle with most.
- Specification of one topic of focus for the lesson (for example, anatomy)
- short warmup to get ready
- a short demonstration
- applied learning or follow along depending on needs
- one final sketch with critique
- parting words (what you learned, what you're still having trouble with, and a "homework" from me).
PEOPLE AT ANY SKILL LEVEL AND AGE CAN JOIN AS LONG AS THEY HAVE A GENUINE PASSION TO LEARN ART.
What sets me apart as a tutor: My lessons don't feel like lessons. Ill ask you how you're doing-- make you feel human and not a number-- and it'll be more like 2 people chatting and learning how to create effectively.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:
For Art: I only do traditional or digital Cartoon and illustration! If you are looking for realism, I may not be of much service.
For Design: I cannot give you a full layout of what a site should look like,I can only give pointers, layout suggestions, color picking, or design for CHARACTERS and CHARACTER SHEETS.
