About Séamus

I’m Séamus Óg, an Irish musician from Carrickfergus, shaped by the rich traditions of Irish music, storytelling, and island life. Music has always been a part of my world, and my journey has been guided by the sounds and stories of home, though I’m just as curious about exploring new musical landscapes. I’ve released five albums, had my music played on BBC and RTE, and have been fortunate to tour with some amazing, well-known musicians. My playing is centred around guitar, but I also perform on a unique instrument of my own design: the cittern. Its shimmering, unconventional tones let me weave melodies and harmonies that feel both familiar and fresh. For players of bouzouki, mandolin, or banjo, it shares the same tuning, making it approachable yet distinct. I love bringing a sense of story and soul to every note I play, inviting listeners and students alike into the world of Irish music with warmth, curiosity, and a touch of imagination.

About the lesson

I like to keep tutoring simple, friendly, and practical. Every lesson is guided by what you need and how you learn best. I mix clear explanations with hands-on examples and a bit of storytelling, so concepts stick and make sense in real life. Questions are always welcome, and we’ll take things step by step at a pace that suits you. Lessons usually run around 45 to 60 minutes, long enough to get into the heart of the topic without feeling rushed. I’ve spent years helping learners of all kinds, from curious beginners to more advanced students, and I draw on that experience to make lessons engaging and easy to follow. Whether you’re starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, my lessons are for anyone who enjoys a patient, down-to-earth approach. I aim to create a space where learning feels natural, encouraging, and even a little fun.
