About Michael

Growing up, writing had always been a part of me. From writing lyrics to constructing essays, I wrote thousands of paragraphs and stanzas in my spare time. Writing was the easy part, but the reading portion was not. No matter what I did, I did horribly on the reading portion of any English class and standardized test. Even worse now, the ACT was coming up and there was still a plethora of skills I didn’t know about, and teachers were little to no help at all. I looked for someone, who wasn’t a teacher, and had experience in reading that could help me. But I realized rather quickly that English was heavily overshadowed by more “difficult” subjects such as Math and Science. I felt that tutoring shouldn’t be select only for the subjects everyone has a problem with. There should be a tutor for all subjects, in order to help the select few who are struggling. No one should be left out in the cold when it comes to education, even if it is an “easy subject.” I continued practicing, which helped me get a 24 on the English portion of my ACT. Now that I have the skills, I’d like to help those who need assistance in English because you shouldn’t be left out in the cold either.

About the lesson

1.) I work for you! Tell me your ideal pace and i will adapt accordingly.

2.) Tell me about yourself! This is important for me to find different methods to teach you, as well as create a bond in order for us to work harmoniously together. Don’t be afraid to open up!

3.)You and I are the same species! I know that’s pretty obvious, but for that reason you are not worse off or better than me, we are the same. Regardless of the skin color you wear everyday, your sexual orientation, your religion etc. you will be treated with the upmost respect, for I expect it in return.

4.)I work with any age! I love teaching young minds what they need to become literary masters and help older minds brush up on old skills.

5.) I don’t follow a book! Trust me when I say I know the book doesn’t help (if your child says “The book doesn’t help” they’re probably telling the truth) therefore, I will not mention a textbook, need to see a textbook, or ask you to refer back to a textbook once lessons are over. However, if it DOES help, please tell me so that I can incorporate it into our sessions.

You will find that I am rather happy, productive and motivated to teach you. You are never a chore, a job or “just for the money”. Instead, you are something great and I’m glad to be a part of something great!
