About John
My name is John Agbo. I believe so much in the Socratic Justice which says: If others consider me the smartest in the room, indeed I am not the smartest because I know everything. Rather, I am the smartest because I recognize my ignorance in knowing nothing. For me, this is the basis for learning anything new or difficult because you must first be humble enough to admit that you know nothing! Only then, can the growth mindset be borne in you which ultimately opens up your mind to learn. If I'm lucky to be your tutor, then I assure you of my professionalism and passion as I guide you and in making sure that you explore and become your best self. Without proper humility, we would never be able to accept our ignorance in a particular subject which ultimately opens up pathways in our minds to learn something new. Which is why my first approach towards learning is to gently establish the areas for a particular topic in which my student finds ultimately difficult. Then, using simple terms I explain this seemingly difficult topic. Then, I search for an example my student can relate to in nature and explain the topic again. Finally, I ask my student to explain back to me what he/she understands from the topic in order for me to measure the level of comprehension. If I am satisfied with my students explanation, then I'm happy and we move to the next difficult topic. If I am not satisfied with his/her explanation, then we keep iterating through the topic until some level of comprehension is established.
Depending on how much my student comprehends the lessons, the typical length of a lesson usually spans between 1 - 2 hours.
Professionally, I studied Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. I've had quite an experience as a tutor, from tutoring some of my junior colleagues in the University, to tutoring WAEC students, it's really being an awesome experience.
Basically, my lessons are targeted for Senior secondary students and Jambites. Nonetheless, I can proficiently tutor a Junior secondary student.
