I have recently graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with my Masters in Advanced Theatre Practice. Prior to that I completed my BA in English Literature from Durham University.
I have worked as a tutor since 2010, with students from ages 8-18, in a variety of subjects, both in the UK and internationally.
• Private one-on-one tutoring sessions in 7+/9+/11+/13+ exams, English Language and English Literature, History, Creative Writing, Religious Studies and Philosophy.
• English tutoring experience for GCSE, AS and A level students:
• GCSE 300+ hours
• AS 100+ hours
• A Level 200+ hours
• Exam and coursework prep as well as improving overall proficiency.
• I have helped students with UCAS forms, personal statements, subject and University choices, and work experience applications.
• I have most often worked with the tutees on long term placements, often lasting a full
academic year, but have also provided intensive tutoring for last minute exam and revision
problems.
About Me:
My tutoring style and ethos is to provide an environment individually tailored to each student or group I am working with, within which they feel comfortable to push themselves and their ideas, and to ask questions.
I am highly analytical, but my passion lies in creativity. I believe this gives me a strong sense of a problem or issue initially, but then allows me to think of interesting and engaging ways of dealing with that with a tutee.
I set up and ran a Literature Society at my University College, who all read a chosen book for each session, and met twice a month to discuss a that month’s chosen genre or theme of literature, to watch adaptations together, and to recommend new books to each other. In August I presented a paper for a leading academic conference on Science Fiction and Fantasy work, based on my Undergraduate dissertation on Dystopian Fiction.
I currently work freelance as a theatre-maker, writer, and dramaturg. These include pieces which have been performed in various London and UK venues, in addition to a festival in Prague. My most recent piece has been performed at the Landor Theatre in London, and the Ventnor Festival on The Isle of Wight.
